22/3/2008Edinburgh Rd/Wellhouse Rd lights

Hi

Am I the only person who is regularly frustrated by the newish lights sequence on Edinburgh Rd/Wellhouse Rd?? Sitting at these lights waiting for each other road to take a turn takes so long that the traffic backs up unnecessarily. It is a waste of time and an environmental nightmare. Is everyone else happy to sit there??? Perhaps other roads have got busier as drivers try to avoid the area......

What do you think????

I think that there is need to have the lights there during peak times, especially with the kids from the surrounding schools making their way there and back, however I think that it would make sense to have them as part time signals which only operate between say 7:00-9:30, then 3-6:30.

Never mind the Edinburgh Rd/Wellhouse Rd lights what about the set in Baillieston Main St that cause havoc at nearly all times of the day with cars trying to avoid being caught up and taking short cuts through Garrowhill!

Have seen lots of accidents at Edinburgh Rd/ Wellhouse Rd. I agree the lights sequence is a nuisance, but then the change was needed because too many dangerous situations with people being hurt. So perhaps better wait the couple of minutes than not getting to where you want to.

Hi I used to live in Barlanark and was home from Canada in Feb and made a comment a few times about these lights, here at most intersections we can turn on a red light if clear also we have extended or advanced green which helps the flow of traffic. Billy Mc Millan.

"Too many dangerous situations" - Come on, Edinburgh Rd is huge and very quiet except for the build up of traffic created by these crazy lights. If you can't negotiate that junction, you really shouldn't be on the road. All part of the ever increasing nanny state, as lights spring up everywhere replacing perfectly good give way junctions. Not that it affects me as I use alternative routes now. I can travel along the M8 from Charing Cross to Jct 9 quicker than I can get down Wellhouse Rd. sometimes. It's a joke.

Just an update..I've heard that the Council are looking at the timings of these lights with a view to giving more time to the roads crossing Edinburgh Rd. I don't think this is the solution but at least they are realising there is a problem....at last!!

Have your say:
